The free club weather widget is live

Clubs can now request a free branded Convek forecast widget for one site or airfield. It is the first surface in the wider Convek club forecast toolkit.

The free club widget is live. If you maintain a gliding, paragliding, or hang gliding club website, you can now request a simple Convek-powered soaring forecast panel for one site or airfield. It can be a hosted page you link to, or an iframe panel if your website supports embeds.

The free widget is branded, one-location, and deliberately narrow. It shows the site name, forecast run time, day rating, thermal strength, cloudbase, usable soaring height, surface wind, winds aloft, and a powered-by link. It does not try to be a full map product, a replacement for official aviation forecasts, or a custom dashboard. The job is a quick club briefing panel that members can read in a few seconds.

Setup is enquiry-led for now. The request form asks for the club name, website, contact email, site or airfield name, and coordinates if you know them. A current weather page URL helps too. I check the location against the live Convek regions, make sure the output is sensible, and then send back a preview, hosted link, or iframe snippet.

That review step is intentional. A public widget should not mean a public API key, and it should not mean unlimited random latitude and longitude combinations being cached forever. Public club tools are served by Convek so the data fetch, cache, and limits stay under our control.

The free setup is also a fair exchange. Clubs get a useful forecast panel for members. Convek gets a visible powered-by link on a relevant club website. If your club needs a fuller surface, the same toolkit also covers hosted forecast pages, morning email summaries, and focused event forecast pages.

The request form is on the club widget page, the wider club options are on the clubs page, and the setup notes are on how to install a club weather widget.
