Each region is a dedicated high-resolution model run - not a tile clipped from a global dataset.
High-resolution, regional models
Each region runs its own dedicated WRF (Weather Research & Forecasting) simulation - not a resized global model. At 4 km resolution, valley flows, orographic lift, sea breezes, and terrain-driven thermals are resolved in a way 25 km global models can't capture.
Four runs per day
Models run at 00z, 06z, 12z, and 18z UTC. By the time you're checking the forecast on launch, you're working with data initialised a few hours ago - not overnight.
Soaring-specific post-processing
Raw WRF output is post-processed into soaring-specific fields: thermal strength (wstar), soaring height ceiling, day rating, corridor sampling, and more - served as clean JSON via the Convek API.
